“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” – Matthew 7:7-8
Persistent, what does it mean? “Continue firmly in a course of action, in spite of difficulty or opposition.” Being persistent is going to take time and energy.
In Matthew 7:7-8. Jesus tells us to persist in prayer. But how do we know what that means? Here are a few question that can help answer the question.
Have you ever prayed for something, but after a few days or weeks without any results, you gave up?
Have you prayed for something half-heartedly and then gotten angry with God when your prayer wasn’t answered the way you wanted it to be answered?
Have you ever thought god wasn’t listening to your prayers because you didn’t get the results you were looking for?
“The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.” Lamentations 3: 25-26
Communion with God through prayer takes focus, faith and follow through. Remember, we will be rewarded as we develop and pursue a deeper relationship with Him.
My friend, instead of giving up, increase your efforts and gain more focus.
Continue to seek His will. Pray for the knowledge, patients, and love.
“ For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.” Jeremiah 29:11-12
