With everything going on in the world, it is easy to let anxiety, fear, and even depression pull us away from God. But it is His hope and love that calls us to a higher place. This is where we can find true freedom
.Philippians 4:6-7. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
There is something powerful about listening to gospel music. It makes us feel better, snap our fingers, bob our heads, while listening to the beat of the song.
Music is an effective healer.
The scriptures tell us when King Saul needed peace and relief in times of stress and torment, David played music.
Saul’s attendants said to him, “See, an evil spirit from God is tormenting you. 16 Let our lord command his servants here to search for someone who can play the lyre. He will play when the evil spirit from God comes on you, and you will feel better.” 1 Samuel 16:14-23 NIV
Whenever the spirit from God came to Saul, David would take up his lyre and play. Then relief would come to Saul; he would feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him.
Listening to gospel music has a way of strengthening our faith and drawing us closer to the Lord. The song by Brian Courtney Wilson “Increase My Faith,” reminds us of just powerful music can be.
Build my hope for tomorrow,Help me conquer the sorrow
That creeps in when I’m anxious, And lose my way
I know that the Lord, Is preparing me
For great things, I have yet to see
But on days when it’s hard, To believe
Increase my faith
Gospel music lifts our voices to the Lord in adoration and thanksgiving. Creating an atmosphere of worship. The words speak to our spirit and draws us closer to our creator.
