Listening and singing along with Christian Gospel music has a unique way of strengthening our heart, soul, and mind. In today’s age of distractions, Gospel music shifts our focus on God.

Here are just a few things the Psalms say about the music we listen and sing to:

Psalms 5:11: “Let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you.”

Psalms 9:2: “I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.”

Psalms 51:14: “Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, O God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing aloud of your righteousness.”

Psalms 59:16-17  “But I will sing of your strength; I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning. For you have been to me a fortress and a refuge in the day of my distress. O my Strength, I will sing praises to you, for you, O God, are my fortress, the God who shows me steadfast love.”

Psalms 63:7: “For you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.”

In the Bible, singing and joy are bound together. “Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise.” James 5:13

Uplifts Our Soul

With all the stress of life, it can be difficult to feel mental clarity and peace. The positive impact gospel music has on our autonomic nervous system has shown to improve our mental well being. Communing with the Lord through melodies and words leads us to a calming spiritual mindset.

“I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice.” Psalm 34:1-2

“He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.” Psalm 40:

As we grow in our Christian faith, keep a song in your heart can bring us closer to the Lord.
