Filled with profound wisdom that inspires generations.

According to the National Today, African American Music Appreciation Month June 2023:

In 2009, President Barack Obama renamed Black Music Month to African-American Music Appreciation Month. He also highlighted the importance of this month and the various genres in Black music.  This includes sacred music, which was one of the earliest African-American music forms in the U.S. that highlighted gospel themes and Black Christian values. Blues and R&B relayed ideas of the homeland and racial integration. Hip-hop, rap, and rock and roll quickly became popular overseas as they appealed to youngsters all over the world.

Gospel music offers guidance and space during times of hardship. Filled with courageous people who relied on their faith in the Lord to overcome adversity. Such faith can can ignite positive change and even move mountains.

Like in many Gospel songs, James writes about strength and perseverance, urging individuals to find joy in the trials they face.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do. James 1:1-
