Listening to Gospel Music is a testimony to the power of hope and faith. Giving the listener a sense that better days are on their way. With everything going on in the world, it is easy to let anxiety, fear, and even depression pull us away from God. But it is His hope and love that calls us to a higher place. This is where we can find true freedom
Matthew 6:31-34
31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Gospel music lifts our voices to the Lord in adoration and thanksgiving. Creating an atmosphere of worship. The words speak to our spirit and draws us closer to our creator.
Perseverance and strength are also common themes in Gospel music. In James, he urges people to find joy in the trials they face.
James 1 2-8
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
There is something powerful about listening to gospel music. It makes us feel better, snap our fingers, bob our heads, while listening to the beat of the song.
